Rating of sales:
Dalacin C® manufacturer is Pfizer. Dalacin C® comprises the active ingredient Clindamycin, a semi-synthetic antibiotic belonging to group of medications called Lincomycins.
- lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, empyema, pulmonary abscesses);
- otorhinolaryngological infections;
- intraabdominal infections (peritonitis, intraabdominal abscesses);
- gynecological infections (endometritis, non-gonococcal tuboovarial abscesses, pelvic cellulitis; postoperative vaginal infections, caused by anaerobes);
- infections of the bones and joints and as an adjuvant in surgical combined therapy in chronic infections of the bones and joints;
- sepsis (due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus (except for Streptococcus faecalis) and Clindamycin-susceptible anaerobes).
Dalacin C® will not treat viral (e.g., cold, flu) or yeast infections.
Clindamycin works by slowing or stopping bacteria growth. Clindamycin inhibits the synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Clindamycin is effective against susceptible Gram-positive organisms, staphylococci (both penicillinase- and non-penicillinase-producing), streptococci (except Streptococcus faecalis) and pneumococci. It is also indicated in serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic pathogens. Clindamycin does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier in therapeutically effective quantities.
Dalacin C® capsules are taken orally (by mouth), with a full glass of water.
Adults
The recommended dose is 150-300 mg every six hours; or 300-450 mg every six hours depending on the severity of the infection.
Children
The recommended dose is 3-6 mg/kg every six hours depending on the severity of the infection.
Children under one year of age and/or under 10 kg may require a lower dose.
Neonates (0-28 days), especially if premature, require special attention to dose reductions and/or extended dose intervals due to the prolonged elimination half-life.
Dalacin C® capsules are not suitable for children who are unable to swallow them whole.
The duration of the treatment is 7-14 days.
If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of Dalacin C® to compensate the missed dose.
If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
