Doxylab® capsules are produced by Laborate.

The raw materials of the medication are Doxycycline and Ambroxol.

Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic, also known as antibacterial, antiprotozoal and antihelmithic agent. Ambroxol belongs to the mucolytic drug class and is also known as secretolytic agent.

Doxylab® is aimed to treat upper and lower respiratory tract infections followed by excessive mucous secretions.


- chronic sinusitis;

- asthmatic acute bronchitis;

- acute attacks of chronic bronchitis;

- asthmatic bronchitis;

- pneumonia.

Doxylab® may prevent infection with scrub typhus, traveler's diarrhea, leptospirosis infections.

Doxylab® is not intended to treat infection viral infections (cold, flu) and yeast infections.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Doxycycline is a protein synthesis inhibitor that works by slowing or stopping the bacteria growth. Doxycycline blocks the synthesis of essential for bacteria proteins, which guarantee bacteria functioning. Ambroxol works by helping to rupture the structure of mucus in the lungs and therefore facilitates expectoration. By thinning and loosening mucus, Ambroxol makes it easier to cough out.


Swallow the Doxylab® capsules whole with a full glass of water/with food/milk.

If you take birth-control pills, use additional contraceptives while taking Doxint® and 7 days after stopping Doxylab®.

Adults, elderly and children 12 years or over:

The recommended dose is 200 mg on the first day as a single or two 100 mg doses, followed by 100 mg per day.

For severe infections the daily dose may be increased to 200 mg per day.

The treatment duration is minimum 10 days.

Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of Doxylab® to compensate the missed dose.


If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.


Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.

Side effects

The most common side effects associated with Doxylab® are:

  • allergic reactions
  • anorexia
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • gastric irritation
  • diarrhea
  • glossitis
  • monilial over growth of the anogenital region
  • abnormal hepatic functions
  • skin rash
  • blood abnormalities

Side effects occurrence does not only depend on the medication you are taking, but also on your overall health and other factors.


Do not take Doxylab® capsules if you are allergic to Doxycycline, other similar antibiotics (such as Minocycline or Tetracycline).

Do not take Doxylab® capsules if you are allergic to Ambroxol or any other ingredients comprised in Doxylab®.

Do not take Doxylab® if you have a history of severe allergic reactions associated with using antibiotics.

Do not take Doxylab® if you have liver disease or are taking medications affecting your liver.

Do not take Doxylab® if you have porphyria (a genetic disorder of the blood).

Do not take Doxylab® if you suffer from myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness, difficulty chewing and swallowing and slurred speech).

Apply sunblock if you are going sunbathe while taking Doxylab®, as it makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Do not take Doxylab® if you have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (face rash, hair loss, fever, malaise and joint pain).

Do not take Doxylab® if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications: anticoagulants (warfarin); penicillin or rifampicin; antacids containing aluminium, calcium or magnesium or other medications containing iron, bismuth or zinc salts; phenobarbital, carbamazepine, phenytoin or primidone (to treat epilepsy); methoxyflurane (an anaesthetic); ciclosporin (used following organ transplants).

Do not take Doxylab® if you notice any damage to skin or mucosa (moist tissue that lines the inner side of nose, mouth, lungs, and the urinary and digestive tracts).

Do not take Doxylab® if you are taking drugs that suppress cough (antitussives).

Consult your doctor before taking Doxylab® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Doxylab® is not for use in children under 12 years of age.

Q: What is Doxylab® used for?

A: Doxylab® is a medication for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections followed by excessive mucous secretions (acute worsening of chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, asthmatic bronchitis, pneumonia). Doxylab® is not for use in children under 12 years of age.
