About Candid® Gel

Rating of sales:

Candid® Gel is manufactured by Glenmark Gracewell Division and used to treat fungal and yeast infections. Candid® Gel is effective against skin disorders caused by Candida albicans, Malassezia furfur, and other pathogenic dermatophytes. This medication also helps relieve burning, itching, and swelling coming along with fungal infections.

Candid® Gel comprises Clotrimazole as an active ingredient. Clotrimazole is an azole derivative with a broad spectrum of antimycotic activity against candidal and dermatophytic infections. Depending on concentration, it can be fungicidal or fungistatic.

- athlete’s foot;

- oral thrush;

- genital candidiasis (vaginal or penile thrush);

- nail fungus (tinea unguium);

- dermatomycosis furfuracea (tinea versicolor, pityriasis versicolor or tinea flava);

- jock itch;

- diaper and sweat rash;

- onychomycosis (ringworm of the nail).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent effective against most strains of Epidermophyton, Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Candida. It is also active against many gram-positive bacteria. Clotrimazole kills infection-causing fungal cells by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, the main component of fungal cell membrane. With the lack of ergosterol, the membrane of fungal cells becomes more permeate, which results in the fungal cells dying.

Candid® Gel is normally applied to the skin 2-3 times a day, usually for 2-4 weeks depending on the severity of the skin condition.
