About Candid®-V Gel

Rating of sales:

Candid®-V Gel is manufactured by Glenmark Gracewell Division. This is a medication in gel formula used to treat yeast infection in vagina. Candid®-V Gel is also used to relieve inflammatory symptoms that may occur with vaginal yeast infection, such as burning, itching, and irritation.

Candid®-V Gel comprises Clotrimazole as an active ingredient. This is an azole derivative with a broad spectrum of antimycotic activity against candidal and dermatophytic infections. Clotrimazole can perform fungicidal or fungistatic activities depending on its concentration.

Candid®-V Gel is indicated to treat vaginal yeast infection (also known as vulvovaginal or vaginal candidiasis).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent effective against most strains of Epidermophyton, Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Candida. It is also active against many gram-positive bacteria. Clotrimazole kills infection-causing fungal cells by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, the main component of fungal cell membrane. With the lack of ergosterol, the membrane of fungal cells becomes more permeate, which results in the fungal cells dying.

Candid®-V Gel is normally applied into the vagina once daily, usually for 3 days.

How to use Candid®-V Gel:

1. Wash your hands before getting to the application of Candid®-V Gel.

2. Remove the cap from the gel tube.

3. Screw the open end of the applicator to the tube.

4. Fill in the applicator with the gel pulling the applicator plunger until it stops.

5. Unscrew the applicator from the tube and put the cap back on the tube.

6. Lie on your back with your knees bent.
