About Zyban SR

Rating of sales:

Zyban SR tablets contain the active ingredient Bupropion Hydrochloride, which is a medicine used to help people who are addicted to nicotine to give up smoking.

Bupropion belongs to a group of medicines called antidepressants and was first developed to treat depression.

Bupropion acts in the brain but is not the same as nicotine replacement therapy. It works by blocking the re-uptake of a certain chemical substance in the brain called neurotransmitters (noradrenaline and dopamin).

Zyban SR relieves the withdrawal symptoms that you experience when you stop smoking (such as craving, anxiety, restlessness, headaches, irritability, hunger, difficulty with concentration, or just feeling awful).

Zyban SR is also popular as an add-on medication in cases of incomplete response to first-line SSRI antidepressants.

Take Zyban SR by mouth with a full glass of water with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.

Swallow Zyban SR whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.

Usual dosage of Zyban SR is 1 tablet once a day for the first 6 days, increasing on day seven to 1 tablet twice a day.

Elderly people, those with any kidney or liver problems and people with a higher risk of fits should continue taking Zyban SR once a day and not increase to twice a day.

Take Zyban SR at the same times each day at least 8 hours apart. This may help to decrease the risk of seizures with this medicine.

Start taking Zyban SR 1 to 2 weeks before you quit smoking. Take Zyban SR for 7 to 12 weeks after you stop using tobacco. You can take it for as long as 6 months to a year.

If you want to achieve most effective results do not stop taking Zyban SR suddenly.

Missing a dose

Do not take double dose. If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule.

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
