Description
Distaclor® CD manufacturer is A. Menarini.
Distaclor® CD active ingredient is Cefaclor, the second generation cephalosporin and cephamycin antibiotic of a broad spectrum activity.
Indications:
- upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., otitis media due to S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, staphylococci, and S. pyogenes, pharyngitis or tonsillitis due to S. pyogenes);
- lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia due to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pyogenes; acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and acute bacterial sinusitis);
- community-acquired pneumonia of mild to moderate severity (excluding atypical pneumonia);
- urinary tract infection (UTI) including pyelonephritis and cystitis;
- skin and skin structure infections (SSSIs).
MOA (mechanism of action):
Cefaclor is semisynthetic beta-lactam-based antibiotic with a strong bactericidal action. It interferes with the last step of bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in exposure of osmotically less stable membrane. In other words, Cefaclor kills bacteria by destroying their cell walls.
