Description
Doxylab® capsules are produced by Laborate.
The raw materials of the medication are Doxycycline and Ambroxol.
Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic, also known as antibacterial, antiprotozoal and antihelmithic agent. Ambroxol belongs to the mucolytic drug class and is also known as secretolytic agent.
Doxylab® is aimed to treat upper and lower respiratory tract infections followed by excessive mucous secretions.
Indications:
- chronic sinusitis;
- asthmatic acute bronchitis;
- acute attacks of chronic bronchitis;
- asthmatic bronchitis;
- pneumonia.
Doxylab® may prevent infection with scrub typhus, traveler's diarrhea, leptospirosis infections.
Doxylab® is not intended to treat infection viral infections (cold, flu) and yeast infections.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Doxycycline is a protein synthesis inhibitor that works by slowing or stopping the bacteria growth. Doxycycline blocks the synthesis of essential for bacteria proteins, which guarantee bacteria functioning. Ambroxol works by helping to rupture the structure of mucus in the lungs and therefore facilitates expectoration. By thinning and loosening mucus, Ambroxol makes it easier to cough out.
Dosage
Swallow the Doxylab® capsules whole with a full glass of water/with food/milk.
If you take birth-control pills, use additional contraceptives while taking Doxint® and 7 days after stopping Doxylab®.
Adults, elderly and children 12 years or over:
The recommended dose is 200 mg on the first day as a single or two 100 mg doses, followed by 100 mg per day.
For severe infections the daily dose may be increased to 200 mg per day.
The treatment duration is minimum 10 days.
Missing a dose
If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of Doxylab® to compensate the missed dose.
Overdose
If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
