Description
Dutas T® is produced by Dr. Reddy's.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (benign prostatic hypertrophy or benign prostatic adenoma) is a noncancerous enlargement of cells in the central portion of the prostate. This squeezes the urethra, reduces the urine flow and makes it difficult for the patient to void his bladder.
BPH symptoms include frequent or urgent need to urinate, nocturia (frequent urinating at night), difficulty starting urination, urinary hesitancy, dribbling at the end of urination, straining while urinating, inability to completely empty the bladder.
Dutas T® contains Dutasteride and Tamsulosin as active ingredients.
Dutasteride is type I and type II 5α-reductase inhibitor, that hinders the conversion of the male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a male sex hormone (androgen) that causes prostate gland growth. Thereby Dutasteride decreases levels of DHT in the blood, Dutasteride stops prostate growth, allows prostate to shrink and alleviates difficulties during urination.
Tamsulosin is a selective alpha-blocker that decreases peripheral vascular resistance and lowers blood pressure by relaxing both arterial and venous smooth muscle. In such a way, Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.
Dutas T® is beneficial for men with pattern hair loss (MPHL), known also as androgenetic alopecia (AGA). DHT, which is also found in hair follicles, is the androgen responsible for hair loss, as it causes hair follicles to miniaturize and atrophy. Dutas T® promotes the hair growth and prevents the further hair loss from all areas of the scalp.
Remember, that Dutas T® can be used as an off-label treatment for male pattern baldness (MPB) only in men with BPH.
