Actos is an anti-diabetic drug used to control blood sugar levels and prevent them from becoming too high in people with type 2 diabetes by increasing the body's proper response to insulin. Actos is not intended for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. The medication is taken by patients whose blood sugar is not sufficiently controlled by diet and exercise alone, and who cannot take metformin.
