Side effects
Generic Floxin has its side effects. The most common are:
- diarrhea
- difficulty sleeping
- headache
- nausea
- vomiting
- stomach upset
- unusual taste
- vaginal irritation
Less common but more serious side effects during taking Generic Floxin:
- allergic reactions (skin rash or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue)
- breathing problems
- chest pain
- confusion, nightmares or hallucinations
- fever
- chills
- irregular heartbeat or feeling faint
- joint, muscle or tendon pain
- swelling
- redness
- peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
- seizures
- tremor
- unusual pain
- numbness
- tingling
- weakness
- yellowing of eyes or skin
- easy bruising or bleeding
Side effects manifestations are not only depend on medicine you are taking but also depend on your health state and on the other factors.
Contra-indications
Do not take Generic Floxin if you are allergic to Generic Floxin components.
Be very careful with Generic Floxin if you're pregnant or you plan to have a baby, or you are a nursing mother.
Try to be careful with Generic Floxin usage if you have a history of myasthenia gravis.
Try to be careful with Generic Floxin usage if you are allergic to ofloxacin or similar antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), moxifloxacin (Avelox), norfloxacin (Noroxin), and others.
Be careful with Generic Floxin usage if you have kidney or liver disease, joint problems, myasthenia gravis, seizures or epilepsy, diabetes, low levels of potassium in your blood (hypokalemia), or a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome.
Avoid taking antacids, vitamin or mineral supplements, sucralfate (Carafate), or didanosine (Videx) powder or chewable tablets within 2 hours before or after you take Generic Floxin.
It can be dangerous to take Generic Floxin while usung medicines like: a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven), cimetidine (Tagamet), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf), insulin or oral diabetes medication such as glyburide (Micronase, Diabeta, Glynase), probenecid (Benemid), theophylline (Elixophyllin, Theo-24, Theochron, Uniphyl), an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn, Naprelan, Treximet), celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Arthrotec, Cambia, Cataflam, Voltaren, Flector Patch, Pennsaid, Solareze), indomethacin (Indocin), meloxicam (Mobic), steroid medication (prednisone and others).
Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) when you are outdoors.
Try to avoid machine driving.
Avoid alcohol.
