Description
Permin® Cream is a topical pesticide medication manufactured by Universal Twin Labs. It is used to treat certain parasitic skin infections caused by microscopic insects. This cream kills not only the existing on the skin insects, but also helps prevent their growth by destroying parasitic eggs.
Permin® Cream comprises Permethrin as an active ingredient. Permethrin is a pyrethroid insecticide effective in treating skin infestations caused by mites and other parasites.
Indications:
- pediculosis capitis (infestation with head lice);
- scabies (infestation with Sarcoptes scabiei);
- pubic lice (phthirus pubis).
MOA (mechanism of action):
Permethrin is an anti-lice agent belonging to the pyrethroid chemical class. It disrupts the function of parasites’ neurons interfering with sodium channels. Disruption of neurons causes muscles of an insect to spasm, resulting in its paralysis and death. Permethrin is active against a broad range of pests, including lice, ticks, fleas, mites, and other arthropods. In topical administration, Permethrin is effective against certain ectoparasites, including Pediculus humanus capitis and Sarcoptes scabiei species. Applied to the clothes, it may be effective against certain species of Culicidae (mosquito) family.
